The Planning Commission last week approved the master plan for a 2,375-home development with research, industrial and commercial space on 1,239 acres south of the San Diego Freeway between Shady Canyon Drive and State Route 133/Laguna Canyon Road.
The proposed development, filed by the Irvine Community Development Co., would include 1 million square feet of medical and science use, 150,000 square feet of commercial use and 55,000 square feet of institutional or church use.
A community park and public and private neighborhood parks also are planned within the development, as is a site for a future elementary school.
