Share

Jay Leno will lead more than 20,000 motorcyclists Sunday in Love Ride 17, the annual 50-mile charity caravan from Glendale to Castaic Lake.

The event is expected to raise more than $1 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. and the Reading by 9 literacy program of The Times, which is one of the event’s corporate sponsors.

Grand Marshal Leno will be joined by Peter Fonda, who returns as honorary grand marshal, and other celebrity riders.

As in past years, the ride will convene at Harley-Davidson of Glendale, 3717 San Fernando Road, between Los Feliz and Brand boulevards. Preregistration has already closed, but riders can register on site starting at 6 a.m. The caravan of bikes will begin at 9:30 a.m.

John Kay & Steppenwolf will perform a 90-minute kickoff concert at 7:15 a.m. At Castaic, riders (as well as non-riders who choose to four-wheel it there) can partake of live music by Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Blood, Sweat & Tears, a catered barbecue and a motorcycle trade show put on by more than 100 vendors.

To participate, riders must donate a minimum of $50. Information: (818) 246-5618; https://www.loveride.org.
