SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A female stripper was raped and robbed at gunpoint Monday night after performing a private dance for a man at an abandoned house, authorities said.

“At the conclusion of her dance, [the man] produced a handgun and raped her and robbed her of the money he had paid her,” said Brea Police Capt. Doug Dickerson.

The woman, whose name has not been released, had been accompanied to the house, Dickerson said. When her escort knocked at the door, he said, the assailant “released her and she immediately called 911.”

Police received the emergency call from the woman about 8:15 p.m. and arrived at the abandoned building in the 700 block of East Alder Street minutes later.

Officers believed they spotted the man moving around in the building. They watched the house until about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, when they received a search warrant for the house.

Police threw a tear gas bomb into the house. When no one emerged, officers searched the building but found the suspect had gone.

Nearby homes were evacuated overnight as a precaution. About 20 people stayed at the Brea Community Center and were allowed back into their homes about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The assailant is described as a white male, 18 to 22 years of age, thin build, average height, with a shaved or balding head, and a blue or purple cast on one arm.

Dickerson said that the woman, who works for an adult entertainment business, was taken to Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim. She was treated and released, he said.

“It is not uncommon for people in these professions to be victimized either by sexual assault or robbery because . . . the suspect feels they would not report the crime,” Dickerson said. “So for her to come forward is an asset to our job . . . to identify and prosecute the case.”
