‘Drunken Horses’ Changes Venue
“A Time for Drunken Horses,” the fifth film in this fall’s Shooting Gallery Film Series, moves today from the Loews Beverly Center Cinemas to Landmark’s Westside Pavilion Cinemas, 10800 W. Pico Blvd. between Westwood Boulevard and Overland Avenue.
The series, which began in 1999, has spawned such independent successes as “Croupier” and “Judy Berlin.”
“Drunken Horses” is the official entry from Iran for the 2001 Academy Awards in the best foreign language film category and was awarded the top prize at the Sao Paolo International Film Festival.
Directed by Kurdish filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi, it tells of five orphaned siblings who struggle to fend for themselves while taking care of their terminally ill brother.
“Non-Stop,” a Japanese yakuza comedy and the final film in the fall series, opens today and plays through Nov. 23 at the Loews Beverly Center, La Cienega at Beverly Blvd., West Hollywood.
