A man wanted in connection with the rape and robbery of an exotic dancer in an abandoned house in Brea surrendered to Fullerton police early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Zac Orion Lawrence, 19, was held by Brea police Thursday after surrendering to Fullerton police at 2 a.m., said Brea Police Capt. Doug Dickerson.

Officers had conducted a manhunt in both cities after the woman reported the crime Monday evening.

Lawrence is accused of calling the exotic dance service, asking for a private dance at the abandoned house in the 700 block of East Adler on Monday evening. After the woman had performed the dance, Lawrence pulled out a handgun, raped her, and took back the money he had paid her, police said. When her escort, who had been waiting outside in a car, knocked on the door a little while later, the assailant released her and she called 911, authorities said.

The woman’s name has not been released because of the nature of the crime.

Officers called to the scene staked out the house for most of the night, until about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, when a search warrant was issued. They then threw a tear gas bomb into the house but the suspect had fled. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, and about 20 residents spent the night at the Brea Community Center.

The woman was taken to Martin Luther King Hospital in Anaheim, where she was treated and released, police said.
