Pedestrian, 81, Killed in Hit-and-Run
An 81-year-old Burbank man crossing the street to visit his wife in a convalescent home was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Friday, Burbank police said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was hit by a Chevrolet Suburban in the 1000 block of South Main Street about 5 p.m., said Lt. Wade Taylor of the Burbank Police Department.
The man was pronounced dead by paramedics, who were taking him to an area hospital, Taylor said.
The Suburban was described as maroon with tinted windows and gray or silver trim.
“The driver was accelerating, and we suspect [the occupants] knew they had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian,” Taylor said.
