IRVINE
Woodbridge High School graduate Chris Brown and the Irvine Health Foundation’s STOP-GAP program are two of 89 nominees to be honored today for their work helping others.
The Orange County Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives is hosting a “Spirit of Philanthropy” luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency, 17900 Jamboree Road. Seven of the nominees will get a special commendation at the luncheon, which corresponds with National Philanthropy Day established in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan.
Brown, 18, now a freshman at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, is a volunteer for Families Forward, and started his own food drive two years ago to help needy families. He also volunteers with the Irvine Animal Care Center, University United Methodist Church and the Republican Party of Orange County.
STOP-GAP is a program that says it’s dedicated to improving the physical, mental and emotional well-being of residents in Orange County.
