Bone Pieces in Abuse Probe Not Human

San Bernardino County authorities have concluded that bone fragments found last month in the investigation of a couple charged with the murder of one of their three sons are not human.

But more bone fragments were found Saturday at the rural desert home of John and Carrie Davis, and those also will need to be tested to determine whether they are human, the authorities said Monday.

The Davises and another adult, Faye Potts, were arrested after a 911 call Oct. 14 from one of their two surviving sons led authorities to their home in Wonder Valley near Twentynine Palms.

The boys, ages 12 and 17, were found malnourished, underdeveloped and with evidence that they had been chained to their beds. Sheriff’s detectives later learned that the boys had had a 6-year-old brother who died in 1990. The bone fragments later determined not to be human were found Oct. 18.

Detectives say they have evidence that the boy who died, named Rainbow Lord, was kicked by an aunt as he was crying and that the boy’s father allegedly beat him with a board shortly before he died.

The older of the surviving boys, Yahweh Lord, has told investigators that he watched as his parents burned Rainbow’s body in a trash can in the yard of their home.
