Led by violinist Andrew Manze, the British period instrument group, Academy of Ancient Music, will play works by Handel, Bach, Wassenaer, Scheidt and Geminiani. The original Academy was established in London in 1726. It was revived in 1973 by Christopher Hogwood. Manze became associate director and concertmaster in 1996. The program, sponsored by the Performing Arts Center, is part of the Eclectic Orange Festival presented by the Philharmonic Society.

Pacific Symphony’s Copland Centenary Festival comes to a close with a chamber music program, hosted by Joseph Horowitz and Robert Winter. The program will include “El Salon Mexico,” Piano Variations and Piano Sonata (with soloist Benjamin Pasternak); “Vibebsk” for Violin, Cello and Piano (with violinist Paul Manaster, cellist Timothy Landauer and pianist Pasternak), and “Old American Songs” (with baritone William Warfield.

“Survival Sickness” is the title of the second album from Swedish ‘60s-rooted garage rock band The (International) Noise Conspiracy. The group’s musical goal is the realization of folk singer Phil Ochs’ dream of a band that “would be the perfect symbiosis of Elvis and Che Guevara.” If that spawns an image of revolutionary music and politically charged lyrics, you’re on the right track.

The seventh annual L.A. Freewaves’ Experimental Media Arts Festival comes to the Laguna Art Museum from Los Angeles County. “Baroque in Modernity” is a program that consists of five short contemporary works on video that capture the mood, tone or execution of the Baroque period. The video’s total running time is 36 minutes.
