Cost of Watching Angels Going Up

The Angels finished with a winning record last season--82-80--and will try to reap the benefits by raising single-game ticket prices for next season.

The announcement was made a day after the Dodgers said they will not raise their prices. The Angels, who also raised prices a year ago, bumped them up 5.6%.

increases range from $1 for a child’s ticket in the left-field pavilion to $2 for a field box seat.

“The process of ticket pricing becomes a very complicated one and something this organization looks at very thoroughly,” said Tim Mead, the team’s vice president of communications. “It is an increase that the organization worked hard to keep as minimal as possible.”

The Angels froze season-ticket prices after the 1999 season. Picked to win the American League West Division that year, they finished last after a summer of public bickering by players.

The Angels were expected to finish last in 2000, but they stayed on the fringe of the pennant race all season. However, they were never able to mount a formidable challenge, finishing 9 1/2 games behind the Oakland A’s.
