Deputies Fire at Man Who Flees After Car is Stopped
Sheriff’s deputies fired several shots at an armed man Wednesday morning before the man escaped uninjured on foot, authorities said.
Deputies had stopped the man about 11:30 p.m. for making an illegal turn near 20500 S. Berendo Ave., said Deputy David Cervantes. When the car came to a stop, the man, who had a rifle, began running away from deputies, Cervantes said.
The man turned toward the deputies with the rifle, Cervantes said. The deputies fired several shots at the man, but he ran away, Cervantes said.
A rifle was found in the area, Cervantes said. Three people in the car were detained for questioning.
