In another Division IV quarterfinal game:

Agoura 14, Dos Pueblos 10--Chris Denove threw two touchdown passes to Steven Tagai at San Marcos High and the Chargers advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 1989.

Denove’s seven-yard score to Tagai with 1:02 remaining gave Agoura (8-4) a 7-3 halftime lead. The Chargers drove 80 yards in seven plays, with Denove completing five of six passes for 76 yards.

Agoura increased its lead to 14-3 when Denove teamed with Tagai for a 41-yard score on the first possession of the second half. The Chargers’ 15-play, 65-yard drive consumed 6:45.

Denove finished with 251 yards, completing 16 of 31. Tagai had five catches for 104 yards.

Dos Pueblos (7-5) cut the lead to 14-10 on the first play of the fourth quarter when David McKenzie ran for a five-yard touchdown.

Dos Pueblos drove inside the Agoura 10-yard line three times in the first half but managed only three points on a 22-yard field goal by Omar Montepeque.

Dos Pueblos had a final opportunity, taking possession at its 10 with 3:25 remaining, but Brad Kahan’s interception ended the threat and Agoura ran out the clock.

Tagai has 23 receptions, giving Agoura four players with 20 or more this season.

Agoura’s Brad Altman had 143 yards in 30 carries.
