Ice Dogs Move Into First Place

The Ice Dogs took over first place in the West Coast Hockey League with a 7-3 victory Saturday over the Anchorage Aces before 2,733 at the Long Beach Arena.

Long Beach (11-3-5) didn’t waste any time, taking a 4-1 lead after the first period on two goals by Vashi Nedomansky, plus single scores by Sergei Borozdin and Tomas Kapusta.

Kelly Askew, the Ice Dogs’ point leader, and Ralph Barahona scored in the second period, and Askew added his ninth goal of the season in the third period to close out the scoring.
