City Council Set to Make Appointments

Share

The City Council is expected to vote tonight to appoint six residents to its neighborhood councils.

Lesley Daus, Robert Freyermuth, Bill Moy, Gary Bright and Marcie Kraft are expected to be named to a neighborhood council that spans from Stearns Street westward. John Nind is expected to be named to the council that covers the area between 1st Street and Sycamore Drive.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

The city created four neighborhood councils more than 20 years ago to give residents a greater voice on proposed projects near their homes before those projects are considered by the Planning Commission and City Council. Each neighborhood council has 12 members, including a chairperson, who serve two-year terms.

In another item, the City Council is expected to vote on whether to appoint two council members to the Runkle Ranch Golf Course Ad Hoc Committee. They would serve on the committee with the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.

GreenPark Holdings, a Seal Beach-based real estate development company, is proposing to provide about 265 acres to the park district for a golf course. The golf course would sit adjacent to a GreenPark Holdings residential development proposed for the southern end of Sequoia Avenue.
