Archdiocese to Honor 5 With Cardinal’s Awards

Actor Joseph Campanella and Robert Erburu, former chairman of the now-defunct Times Mirror Inc., were among five people Cardinal Roger Mahony named Monday as recipients of the 2001 Cardinal’s Awards.

Recipients of the honor, handed out by the Los Angeles Archdiocese, were recognized for outstanding service to the Catholic Church. They are:

* Campanella, a parishioner of St. Charles Church in North Hollywood, who has been active in youth, philanthropic and charitable causes.

* Erburu, a parishioner of Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, who has been involved in many civic, cultural and educational efforts and was a founding director of the Tomas Rivera Center, a national policy institute.

* Iva May Carrico, a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Charities, and a parishioner of Incarnation Church in Glendale.

* Patrick Corr, a member of the Hospitaller Brothers and the principal figure in the establishment of St. John of God Retirement and Care Center in Los Angeles.

* Margaret Jagels, a supporter of educational institutions, community charities and medical institutions and parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Pasadena.

The honorees will receive their awards Feb. 3 at the 11th annual Cardinal’s Award Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
