The City Council will meet at 7 tonight at City Hall, 7822 Walker St. Among the items to be considered are a proposal to replace existing ficus, crepe myrtle, palm and Bradford pear trees along Walker Street with queen palm trees; a request for $195,700 in additional funding for the Police Department expansion; a proposal to continue contracting with the county for animal control and shelter services; and a request to amend the city’s policy on memorial plaques to include people who have brought honor to the city, regardless of residency. Currently, the city’s policy only allows memorials honoring residents and individuals who have been employed by the city.
