Woman in Bee Attack Remains ‘Guarded’
A woman stung by a swarm of bees at a senior housing complex in Lake Forest remained in guarded condition Tuesday at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills.
“There’s been no change,” a hospital spokeswoman said of Jackie Wright, 77. “She’s stable.”
The hospital was waiting for a report late Tuesday on whether the attack was by Africanized honeybees--the so-called killer bees--or by domestic bees, the spokeswoman said.
Wright was standing in a driveway at Freedom Village, an apartment complex for seniors, about 9:15 a.m. Sunday when the bees attacked her, inflicting hundreds of stings on her face, neck and upper body.
The hospital spokeswoman said Wright suffered an allergic reaction.
