Nico Bollini of Servite, The Times’ Orange County prep golfer of the year in the spring, has committed to USC, he said Friday.
Bollini, who shot five-under-par 65 to win the Southern Section individual title in May and has been ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation over the last year, picked the Trojans over Nevada Las Vegas, Stanford and UCLA.
Bollini averaged par 36 for nine holes for Servite last season and over the summer he represented the United States in the Izzo Cup in Sweden. He has also been selected to the last two Canon Cup West squads.
The 17-year-old from Yorba Linda has been one of the most highly recruited players in the nation after earning second-team All-American honors in 1999.
