Colts Looking for Answers

The Indianapolis Colts, a surprise team for the wrong reasons, are 3-2 going into Sunday’s game at Seattle.

At issue: Peyton Manning threw an uncharacteristic three interceptions in a loss to New England, and Edgerrin James--who led the NFL in rushing last season--ranks eighth with 439 yards. James has only one 100-yard game.

Manning thinks the Colts need to regain their balanced attack so teams have to be ready for them to run on any down.

“Right now, I’m not sure if defenses quite feel that threat,” Manning said. “I think they see us more as a drop-back team and a play-action team. We need to get that balance back.

“There’s still no excuse for me to throw those interceptions late in the game--especially the third one when getting a field goal there would have been nice.”

These guys are putting the ‘D’ in Dolphins.

Led by Trace Armstrong’s 10 sacks, the Dolphin defensive line has 22 1/2 of Miami’s 24 sacks. Jason Taylor is second with five.

Miami had only 39 sacks last season, and could break the team record of 49 set in 1983.
