Fullerton Zeros In on Northridge
Coach Sigi Schmid of the Galaxy didn’t get the show he expected from the Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team, but he did from Cal State Fullerton as he watched at North Campus Stadium.
The Titans, ranked sixth in the country early in the season, defeated Northridge, 5-0, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Friday night.
Duncan Oughton scored in the 27th and 35th minutes, and Art Ramirez added a goal in the 28th minute to give Fullerton (8-4-1, 2-0-1 in conference play) a 3-0 halftime lead.
Sean Giudice and Brent Whitfield added second-half goals to hand the Matadors their worst loss since a 9-2 setback at San Jose State in the 1998 opener.
The Matadors (4-9-0, 0-3-0) were outshot, 19-9, and tied a school record, set in 1997, with six consecutive losses.
