Senior Center Plans Fund-Raising Dinner
The Simi Valley Council on Aging will sponsor its seventh annual Italian dinner fund-raiser at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Simi Valley Senior Center.
The dinner raises money to help fund senior citizen programs and activities at the center, said Rosie Aguilar, an official at the center.
Programs to receive money include Meals on Wheels and the center’s brown bag program, which makes groceries available to low-income senior citizens on a weekly basis, Aguilar said.
“Fund-raising is what makes our activities and programs happen at the Senior Center,” she said.
Tickets for the dinner are $6 and must be purchased in advance at the center, 3900 Avenida Simi. Only 160 tickets are available. Musical entertainment will also be provided.
The dinners have generated about $6,000 the past six years, Aguilar said.
