An electrical fire in North Hollywood on Friday morning caused $30,000 in damage to a one-story house and left a family of four homeless, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters were summoned to the home at 11926 Runnymede St., at 12:45 a.m., and extinguished the fire by 12:57 a.m., department spokesman Bob Collis said.

Two adult residents smelled smoke coming from a room where a 2-year-old child was sleeping, Collis said.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The family--two adults and two children--has turned to the Red Cross for housing assistance, authorities said.
