Man Is Given Prison for Killing Gray Wolf

A man was sentenced to four months in prison and six months’ house arrest for shooting a Mexican gray wolf that had been released in Arizona as part of an effort to return the animals to the wild. James Michael Rogers, 22, of Queen Creek will also be on supervised probation for three years and must complete 50 hours of community service. Rogers pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in July to charges of killing an endangered species, failure to report the killing of an endangered species and transportation of an endangered species across state lines.
