City officials will again solicit bids for the construction of a traffic surveillance system.

The traffic surveillance system project includes the installation of closed circuit cameras on parts of the Orange Freeway, a video and audio fiber optic link to Caltrans and enhanced communications between Caltrans and the city. The entire project is funded by a $881,000 grant from the California Department of Transportation.

City Manager Tim O’Donnell and other members of the city staff decided to reject six bids for the project after it was determined that some specifications in the contract needed correcting.
