Title: CART on the Internet

Where: Numerous Team Websites

With the championship at stake Sunday in the Championship Auto Racing Teams 2000 season, some fans can’t get enough from newspapers and TV, so a number of teams are providing more information on the Marlboro 500 at California Speedway.

A good place to start is www.cart.com, the official web site of CART. It provides the latest news on the series, features, columns from race writers, standings, photos, detailed info about each of the season’s previous 19 races, and individual owner and driver biographies with links to their own web sites.

Those who won’t be attending the race in Fontana can follow the action through live timing and scoring in practice, qualifying and Sunday’s 500-mile race.

The track’s web site--www.californiaspeedway.com--allows fans to buy tickets online, provides directions and gives information on a full weekend’s entertainment.

A closer look at the series leader, Gil de Ferran, can be found at www.penskemotorsports.com. The site also features a Rick Mears spotter’s guide and a comparison of CART and NASCAR.

At www.rahal.com, whose driver Kenny Brack is in the championship hunt, visitors are treated to a virtual tour of a champ car cockpit and can view a pair of pit stops on video. Brack also has his own website, www.kennybrack.com, where he reveals his favorite music is the blues.

At patrickracing.com, visitors get a 360-degree view of a race car when logging onto the home page. Patrick’s drivers, Adrian Fernandez and Roberto Moreno, have chances at the championship. The site includes links to each driver’s web page (www.adrianfernandez.com.mx and www.robertomoreno.com).
