OUTLOOK

The Sailors are unlikely to repeat their 13-0-1 season that yielded a Southern Section Division VI championship. Still, they can be successful despite having returning starters in only six positions, including quarterback Manderino. Manderino, a running threat, passed for 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season, and averaged 18.7 yards per completion. However, this year’s offensive line will be inexperienced, and someone must step up to lessen the graduation departure of the late Andre Stewart, an all-county tailback. The Sailors surrendered only 114 points in 1999, and four of the defensive front seven return, anchored by Saenz and Troncale.
