Motorcyclist Dies of Crash Injuries

Authorities said a Valencia motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a head-on collision over the holiday weekend in Newhall has died.

Stuart Kucey, 42, was pronounced dead Sunday morning at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia. Also killed in the crash was Kucey’s sister, Tamara Kucey, 34, of Chicago, who was his passenger.

The accident occurred late Saturday as Kucey drove his Honda motorcycle north on San Francisquito Canyon Road north of Copper Hill Drive in Newhall. Authorities said the motorcycle drifted to the other side of the road and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The vehicle’s driver, who was not injured, was not cited in the accident because the crash was caused by the motorcycle, said Officer Richard Perez of the California Highway Patrol.
