The nonprofit Orange County Rescue Mission on Tuesday will give more than 1,000 new backpacks filled with school supplies to students at Edison Elementary School on South Orange Avenue.
This is the 10th year that the group has donated backpacks and supplies to schoolchildren in underprivileged areas of the county. This year, students at Edison have the greatest need for the supplies, according to the Rescue Mission, citing school figures showing that 88% of students there receive free breakfasts and lunches.
