A woman was seriously injured and two men hurt after their motor home overturned, trapping them in the crumpled metal debris on Crown Valley Parkway early Friday in Laguna Niguel.

The Orange County Fire Authority extracted the trio from the wreck, which happened near Greenfield Drive at 7:14 a.m. They were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.

The driver, Diana Dubord, 44, of Dana Point, was in serious condition late Friday, according to hospital spokeswoman Karen Prestia. Christopher Allshousc, 28, of Dana Point was in good condition and Gilbert Lugan, 32, of Laguna Beach was released from the hospital.

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy who was driving behind the motor home when the accident occurred helped in the earliest stages of the rescue, said Sgt. Ted Boyne of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The single-vehicle accident occurred when the driver apparently lost control of the 1974 Dodge motor home, which slid across the street before flipping over, Boyne said.

The roof was partly torn off and a large amount of oil and gas leaked from the vehicle, he added.

“It was a messy scene,” Boyne said.

The crash blocked the hectic morning traffic trying to get to Interstate 5 and the San Joaquin toll road, said Deputy Mark Kunar, who was called to the scene.

The westbound lanes of Crown Valley was shut down from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. between Moulton Parkway and Greenfield. Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane for about two hours.

Deputies said open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle.
