The bodies of two men who had been shot to death were discovered Thursday morning on a bicycle path south of the Glendale Boulevard overcrossing in the Atwater Village area, authorities said.

“One of the bodies was found by a cyclist at about 6:30 a.m. on the path beside the Los Angeles River,” said Officer Eduardo Funes of the Los Angeles Police Department. “An investigation revealed a second body a short distance away.” Both had multiple gunshot wounds.

Dan Aikin, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, identified one of the men as Marty Roybal Jr., 18, of Los Angeles.

“We are still awaiting positive identification of the second man, who is a 33-year-old from out of state,” Aikin said.
