Job Fair for Mature Workers Planned

The Ventura Senior Employment Advisory Council will host the third annual Employment Fair for Mature Workers from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 30 at the Technology Development Center, 5200 Valentine Road.
The fair will include representatives from area companies offering a wide selection of jobs, from customer service to secretarial positions, said Marcia Ortiz, Ventura’s community services supervisor.
Ortiz said the job fair will focus on finding work for people 40 and older.
“The goal is to provide a higher level of employees for employers in Ventura County,” she said. “We don’t want people just out of college. We are looking for people who have been in the work force for at least 20 years.”
The fair is free for both job seekers and employers, Ortiz said.
At last year’s event, employers including Wal-Mart, Kinko’s, Farmers Insurance Group and the Ventura Unified School District took part.
