From Times Wire Reports

The United States warned Iraq that it stood ready to use military force if Baghdad threatens its neighbors, after Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing its oil and an Iraqi jet violated Saudi airspace. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said Iraq’s purpose may have been to confront the U.S. during the U.N. Millennium Summit. Speaking in New York, Albright warned Iraq that, if it rebuilt its arsenal or otherwise crossed U.S. “red lines,” it risked a U.S. attack. Albright angrily rejected the Iraqi claim that Kuwait was stealing its oil.
