The Orange County branch of Mothers Against Drunk Driving commended 13 city police officers for their work in pulling intoxicated motorists off the streets last year.
Traffic Officer Greg Shaner arrested 75 drunk drivers last year, while motor officers Richard Spencer and Richard Wright picked up 60 and 51 motorists, respectively, who were under the influence of alcohol.
The three officers led the Police Department, with other officers ranging from 25 to 41 arrests.
“These officers should be honored by their community, and thanked, for the service that they provide for all of us,” said Bob Marlowe, MADD spokesman. “We hope they keep up the good work.”
Each officer received a plaque, and Wright, a motorcycle officer, received special recognition for making an arrest after a drunk driver hit him with a car.
