Board of Supervisors Leadership

Measure O proposes to take $260 million of tobacco settlement money away from the county and give it to private hospitals.
Of the four candidates recently interviewed regarding their positions on Measure O, only Jim Monahan declined to state a position on the measure. He said he “doesn’t know enough about it” and “doesn’t know who to believe.”
It’s the biggest issue before the voters. There’s been public discussion and commentary about it for months, and he says he’s still not prepared to state a position on it.
Fred Gage, who until last month was Monahan’s campaign manager, was quoted as saying that Monahan’s inability to take a position on Measure O is another indication of his need for political guidance (of the sort, I presume, that Gage himself tried to provide). Maybe.
What’s clear, though, is that Monahan is not suited to serve on the county Board of Supervisors with intelligence and competence. Forget leadership entirely.
