Employment in the San Gabriel and Antelope valleys is expected to grow by at least 2% this year and next, according to two economic forecasts by local economists.

By the end of 2001, the San Gabriel Valley is expected to gain 18,400 jobs, for 648,000 total. Many of the new jobs will be in the health and business services sectors, according to the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.

The report also found that the San Gabriel Valley’s economy is fueled almost entirely by small business: More than 85% of enterprises in the area employ between one and 19 workers.
