The city last week renewed its contract for animal control services with the county.

City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to continue its ongoing agreement with the county Office of Animal Control at a cost of $320,000 for 2000-2001--an increase of 24% from the previous year. Some of that increase reflects the city’s underestimating costs from previous years. A provisional payment of $31,428 was made as a part of the renewed contract to cover costs not paid for in 1999-2000.
