Motorist Fatally Shot by Gunman on Foot

WILLOWBROOK — A man who was shot in the head while driving crashed his car and died late Sunday night, police said.
Jeffrey Williams, 44, was driving in the 12200 block of Wilmington Avenue when the 10:30 p.m. shooting occurred, said Sgt. Brenda Cambra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect in the shooting was seen walking and carrying a handgun in the parking lot of a nearby liquor store, Cambra said.
He fired several shots toward the liquor store, Cambra said. While he was walking away from the store, he fired more shots toward Williams’ car, Cambra said.
Williams was hit in the head by gunfire and crashed his car into a parked vehicle, Cambra said.
Sheriff’s detectives were conducting the murder investigation for Maywood Police Department.
