County Fair Highlights

The 78th annual Los Angeles County Fair, “A Journey to Our Destiny,” will run through Sunday at the Fairplex, two blocks north of the San Bernardino Freeway in Pomona. Horse races are run daily, with the first post time at noon.

Concerts--Grandstand Stage

* KC and the Sunshine Band--Friday

* Styx--Saturday

General admission to most shows at grandstand concerts is free with regular fair admission. Reserved grandstand, box and stage-area seats can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations, at the Fairplex box office and online at https://www.fairplex.com and https://www.ticketmaster.com, or they can be charged by phone at (213) 480-3232, (714) 740-2000 or (805) 583-8700. All concerts begin at 8 p.m.

Highlights

* Today: California Saddlehorse Futurity, Horse Show Arena, 1 p.m. and throughout the day; doughnut-eating contest (adult division), Clock Tower Plaza, 7 p.m.; fireworks, 10 p.m.

* Friday: Western National Boar Goat and Purebred Bucks and Does, Ring 1, 1 p.m.; lion roaring contest, America’s Kids, 1 p.m.; Doo-Wah Riders, Heritage Farm Stage, 7 p.m. until closing.

Fair Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.

Admission: Adult (13 and older), $10; $5 today after 5 p.m.

* Ages 6-12, $5 on weekends; free on weekdays if accompanied by paying adult.

* Children 5 and younger free every day.

* Over 60, $7.

* Carnival wristband: Today and Friday, 10 rides for $15. No wristbands are sold on weekends.
