UCLA Vice Chancellor Gets L.A. Unified Post
Los Angeles schools Supt. Roy Romer has selected an associate vice chancellor at UCLA to become his chief operating officer, completing the remake of the district’s senior executive staff.
Allen Solomon, who has guided the university’s key operating units since 1995, will fill the currently vacant position later this month. His two-year contract will pay $195,000 a year.
Solomon will oversee the business services, information technology, facilities, human resources, and planning and assessment units of the $8.9-billion district.
At UCLA, he established a campus information technology infrastructure, restructured financial systems to pay off millions in deficits, and worked with academic departments to align administrative support with educational priorities.
