Suspect Arrested in Hit-Run Crash That Killed 3

A suspected hit-and-run driver was arrested Monday in connection with a three-car collision in Inglewood that left three people dead and five others seriously injured, authorities said.

Allen French, 22, was arrested about five hours after the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Century Boulevard and 2nd Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Inglewood Police Sgt. Mike Marshall said.

French was booked on charges of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter, Marshall said.

Police and firefighters found two people dead at the scene. A third died at Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center. Their names were withheld pending notification of relatives.

Three people were in critical condition and two were in stable but serious condition at local hospitals, Marshall said.

Police were withholding details on how French was located. The cause of the accident was under investigation.

Separately, authorities arrested a man Monday on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter after he allegedly rear-ended a car parked at the side of the Harbor Freeway in South Los Angeles, killing a man inside.

Hideki Takase was driving at a high rate of speed when he allegedly slammed into the rear of a disabled car belonging to Armando Lopez, 25, of Inglewood, California Highway Patrol Officer Charles Blair said.
