Reed Finishes 37th at Boston Marathon

Danny Reed of Laguna Niguel finished 37th overall and fifth in the masters division Monday at the Boston Marathon.

Reed, 40, finished the 26.2-mile race in 2 hours 26 minutes 49 seconds. Reed, who was aiming to finish among the top five masters and earn prize money, came through the opening 5 kilometers in 15:44 and reached the halfway point in 1:09.42.

Fedor Ryjov, 41, of Russia was the top master, finishing eighth overall in 2:13:54. Lee Bong-ju of South Korea was the overall winner in 2:09.43.

BASEBALL

Trabuco Hills outfielder Sean Boatright, a Times’ Orange County first-team selection last season, has signed with Long Beach State, said his father, Bob. Sean was hitting .465 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs through Sunday.
