‘Bridget’ Carries a Slow Weekend

Share

It was a relatively quiet weekend at the box office, but that was just fine with Miramax/Dimension, which saw two of their films ranked No. 1 and 2. The romantic comedy “Bridget Jones’s Diary” won the weekend by a photo finish with $10.2 million in ticket sales after Miramax had added 610 screens following the film’s debut.

“Spy Kids” continued its strong spring run, grossing $10.1 million, while the thriller “Along Came a Spider” made $8.8 million.

The Paul Hogan comedy sequel “Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles” made $7.7 million for fourth place, while the raunchy, R-rated Tom Green comedy “Freddy Got Fingered,” which was hammered by critics, grossed $7.1 million.
