Share

Two Boeing Co. employees were burned Wednesday and about 100 others evacuated at the company’s Anaheim plant after a fuse box caught fire.

The injured employees were working on the fuse box about 10:50 a.m. in an office building at the facility at 3311 La Palma Ave. when their equipment made contact with the fuses, causing a fire, said Anaheim Fire Department spokeswoman Maria Sabol.

Sabol described the blaze as a “flash fire” and said it was out almost instantly.

The men were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Their names were not released. One, a 59-year-old, suffered facial burns and was listed in fair condition. The second, who is 61, was burned on his face and arms and was in serious condition, a hospital representative said.

The other employees in the building were evacuated as a precaution. They returned to work about an hour later, according to a company representative.
