Some Residents Also Oppose Playa Vista

“Gehry’s Putting Stamp on Playa Vista” [July 10] says the project has been a lightning rod for protest by groups that claim the developers will damage the Ballona Wetlands.
Please be advised that environmentalists are not the only ones who are strongly opposed to the Playa Vista project.
We homeowners are a huge silent majority that nobody has heard yet. Just because we aren’t well-organized and out there with picket signs doesn’t mean we don’t exist.
There is more to the damage that Playa Vista is doing besides the destruction of the Ballona Wetlands--the words are “quality of life.”
They are plunking down a city of 30,000 in our midst, which will generate 200,000 car trips a day and strain our already overtaxed transportation system, not to mention other scarce resources such as water, electricity and gas.
The project also destroys the last open space on the overcrowded Westside--in a city that already has a scarcity of parkland.
