Fry, Michels Win Late Model Mains

Chatsworth’s Tommy Fry and Mission Hills’ Rip Michels won the Food4Less Super Late Model twin 50-lap main events Saturday night before 5,101 at Irwindale Speedway.
In the first race, Fry took over the lead on Lap 29 after catching pole-sitter David Gilliland. Fry held off Gilliland and Sean Woodside for the victory.
In the second race, Michels, who finished the first race in sixth position, took advantage of a six-car inversion, giving him pole position and a wire-to-wire win, his first in the series.
