Women of Faith Conference Coming to Anaheim

A few hundred tickets remain for the Women of Faith conference Sept. 7-8 at the Arrowhead Pond. The “Boundless Love” conference features an array of Christian motivational speakers, authors and singers, including Patsy Clairmont, Barbara Johnson, Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh and Thelma Wells. More than 16,000 tickets at $30 each have been sold for the event. The conference begins Friday evening and continues all day Saturday.

* Members of Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa will give a last performance of “An Inspector Calls” today at the Lyceum Theater at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. The college is at 55 Fair Dr. (949) 548-2600.

* Congregation B’nai Israel will hold open houses to introduce interested members of the community to the many programs and services the synagogue has to offer. These will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. and Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.

* The Huntington Beach Christian Women’s Club will host a “Good Ole Summertime” luncheon Wednesday at Los Caballeros Sports Village Ballroom in Fountain Valley. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $14 and reservations are required by Tuesday. Child care will be provided with early reservations. * The United Methodist Church of Garden Grove will have a luau Saturday sponsored by its English, Korean and Samoan congregations. Cost is $20 for adults and free for children 7 and younger. * Christ Lutheran Church in San Clemente will host a worship service on the beach at 8 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Margaret Duttera will give the message “Why Change?” The service will include Holy Communion and a special children’s message. The service will take place on North Beach at the foot of Avenida Pico. There will be an additional service at the church at 10:30 a.m. The church will also have its Family Beach Bible Camp from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday on North Beach. * The Jewish Community Center of Orange County will host “Aloha Day: An Open House Adventure” Aug. 26 in Costa Mesa. The annual event features a preview of fall programs, plus entertainment, demonstrations and games and crafts for kids. Judaic gifts and used books will be available for sale.

* Jazz lovers can enjoy a concert featuring the Bruce McGregor Quintet, a group of boys under age 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in San Clemente. Tickets are $10.
