Nuveman, Garcia Are Honored as Top Catchers
Stacey Nuveman of UCLA and Adriana Garcia of Arizona Western College have been honored as National Fastpitch Coaches Assn. Diamond Sports catchers of the year. Nuveman was selected as the top Division I catcher, while Garcia was chosen as the top Division I community college catcher.
Nuveman, a junior from La Verne, batted .440 with 19 home runs and 73 RBIs to lead UCLA to a runner-up finish in the women’s College World Series. Garcia, from Jurupa Valley High, hit .448 and will attend Arizona State next season.
