New Parking Ordinance Targets Big Vehicles
The Ventura Police Department is cracking down on motorists who park oversized vehicles on city streets.
Under an ordinance that took effect July 30, oversized vehicles can no longer be parked on city streets on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Temporary parking is allowed for loading, deliveries and making repairs.
Vehicles that are more than 25 feet long, more than 80 inches wide or more than 82 inches high are restricted. Trailers of any type, while attached to a vehicle, can also be cited.
First-time violators will receive a warning. The first citation will cost $55.
A free, temporary permit exempting drivers from the ordinance can be requested through the Police Department’s traffic desk. For more information, call 339-4401.
