Clemson receiver Kevin Youngblood, who was supposed to help replace career reception leader Rod Gardner, broke his leg in practice Tuesday and will miss the season.

“This is a very big loss for our football team,” Coach Tommy Bowden said. “Kevin had a terrific spring and was having a great fall.”

Youngblood had 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns last season as a redshirt freshman. He averaged 17.3 yards a reception and was named offensive rookie of the year by the coaching staff.
