Authorities Identify Woman Killed in Crash

A passenger killed in a suspected drunk-driving crash in Palmdale has been identified as Carlotta Garcia of Palmdale, coroner’s officials said Tuesday.
Garcia, 43, and another passenger were in a 1993 Ford Escort that rolled over about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 6500 block of Palmdale Boulevard, sheriff’s deputies said.
The driver, Cornellglen Yoneda, 32, of Palmdale, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, Sheriff’s Det. Mike Redding said. Yoneda will be arraigned today in Antelope Superior Court and remains in custody in lieu of $35,000 bail, Redding said.
Garcia, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died at the scene, Redding said. Yoneda allegedly fled on foot and was picked up by deputies about three miles away, the detective said.
The other passenger was treated for minor injuries at Antelope Valley Hospital, Redding said.
